NOT LISTENING
As a member of the Redeemed Christian Fellowship, Uniport, we usually have an evangelical program tagged; "INVADE" where we go in pairs to carry out personal evangelism in a particular preselected area around school. On this occasion, we chose Aluu in Rivers state. I went with a very good friend, Faith. We entered a compound where we saw a room, its door was opened and as we turned for the room we noticed a girl barely dressed on the floor. So, I instinctively moved towards another room to preach to another woman who was married and with children. It was a good one as we presented the gospel and gave tracts too. She said she was born again already so we just encouraged her.
I then told my partner that I feel we should go back to the room where the girl was improperly dressed. I didn't want to shy away from them because, I initially assumed in my heart that they would not listen to us. At least, I felt that way because of previous experiences with this kind of girls. But I was willing to take a chance on these ones.
We approached the room and as it was open, we asked for a chance to talk for a few minutes. To my utmost surprise they let us.
I was not discomforted by their appearance though. I've lived in worse places.
So, my partner spoke first and while she spoke, I noticed these were the kind of girls who had no problem hearing you out, they would not take what you say personally. Infact, its effects leaves with you.
So the Lord ministered to my heart a question to ask them. " What is your belief on this folklore of a Man who died two thousand years ago or His Spirit living in men?" So one of the girls told me she believes it is real and I told her that I need to know her assurance, so she should prove it to me. She said she could not, and then finally admitted she was not certain if all this was true.
This is it. Salvation is assurance not confusion. So I offered to explain to her how FAITH, not FACT is our watchword in christianity, How in Christ we TASTE and then SEE, not the other way round, and the assurance of the Spirit of God within us bearing witness with our spirit.
After which we led them both to the Lord.It was a nice experience, reaffirming the fact that "The doctor is for the sick" and not those who are well. So the next time you go to evangelize, please note that the call to preach the gospel is to all of mankind, Do not be selective on the who you speak to. Allow the Spirit to lead you, as well as the words that proceed out of your mouth.
My name is Marvellous Martins, and this is my first evangelical experience shared on this blog.
God bless you as we become hearers and doers of His Word.
Amen.
